# Contact email

Where affiliates reach you, and where UpPromote sends your program notifications.Where affiliates reach you, and where UpPromote sends your program notifications.

### What it's for

Your contact email does two things:

**Affiliates reach you here**. When an affiliate replies to any automated email from UpPromote, the reply lands in this mailbox. UpPromote sets it as the Reply-To address on every email it sends, whichever address appears in the From field.

**UpPromote notifies you here**. Program notifications go to this address — including alerts about your sender email setup, such as when your domain's DNS records go missing and your emails switch back to the default address.

### Setting it

Go to ***Settings > General > Contact email***, enter the address, then Save.

*Contact email and sender email are two separate settings.*

Any provider works — Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, or an address on your own domain. This address never appears in the From field of your affiliate emails, so it has no domain or authentication requirements at all. Use whatever mailbox you actually read.

Make sure it's a mailbox someone monitors. It's the only channel UpPromote has for reaching you about sending problems, and those messages are time-sensitive.

### Contact email vs sender email

These used to be a single field doing both jobs. They're now separate:

| | Contact email | Sender email |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| What it does | Receives affiliate replies and your notifications | Appears in the From field of affiliate emails |
| Provider restriction | None — Gmail is fine | Must be on a domain you control |
| Setup | Enter it and save | Two steps, including DNS records |
| If unset | Falls back to your Shopify account email | Emails send from `no-reply@secomapp.com` |

Changing one has no effect on the other. You can change your contact email at any time without touching your sender email setup, and vice versa.

### If you used this field as your sender address before

Previously, one field held both roles: you entered an address here and enabled Use your email address as sender's to make it the From address too.

That option has moved. Your contact email keeps the address you already had and continues receiving replies and notifications. Sending from your own address is now set up separately, under **Sender email** on the same page, and requires authenticating your domain.
