Detect referrals from Google Ads
This feature allows you to identify referrals that were generated through Google Ads clicks. By enabling it, you can easily recognize which orders are associated with Google Ads traffic and decide how to handle them based on your affiliate program’s policies.
This helps you maintain transparency and ensure that referrals align with your marketing strategy.
How to set it up
Go to Settings > tab General > Referral review > Detect referrals from Google Ads
Toggle the feature ON to activate it. After enabling it, you can choose how detected referrals should be handled:
Mark only
Mark and auto-deny

How it works
Once enabled, UpPromote automatically reviews new referrals and highlights those detected as coming from Google Ads.
Detected referrals are shown in your Affiliate referral list with a “Google Ads” badge in the dedicated Google Ads column.

How these referrals are handled depends on the option you’ve chosen in your settings.
If you choose Mark only, the detected referrals will display a Google Ads badge in the referral list as above, but the system will keep their status unchanged.
If you enable the Auto-approve orders feature, those referrals are still automatically approved.
This option is ideal if you want to monitor and review Google Ads traffic before taking any action.
If you choose Mark and auto-deny, the detected referrals will display a Google Ads badge in the referral list as above, but the system will automatically mark them as Denied, regardless of the Auto-approve orders setting.
This helps you automatically exclude referrals that come from Google Ads if your program doesn’t allow this traffic type.
If this feature is turned off, no detection or marking will occur.
Notifications to affiliates
When you enable this feature, affiliates will be informed through multiple channels to ensure transparency.
1. Notification on the Affiliate Dashboard
Your affiliates will see a message on their dashboard depending on your feature settings.

2. Notification via Marketplace account
This account is for affiliates who signed up for UpPromote Marketplace. It helps them manage the offers they've applied for through the UpPromote system and track the performance earned from those offers.
If your affiliates have a Marketplace account, the same messages are also displayed in their account to maintain consistent communication.
Here's an example:

In addition, UpPromote sends a push notification to their Marketplace account when you enable or update this feature. This ensures affiliates are aware of the detection rule and can adjust their promotion activities accordingly.
Tips & best practices
To make the most of this feature and maintain clear communication with your affiliates, please consider the following recommendations:
💡 Clarify your policy in the registration page:
Clearly specify in your program’s Terms and Conditions whether referrals from Google Ads are accepted or prohibited. This helps set accurate expectations and prevents potential disputes with affiliates.
💡 Align your Marketplace listing with your traffic rules:
If your offer is listed on the UpPromote Marketplace, review the Allowed and Prohibited promotion channels in your listing settings. Make sure they reflect your stance on Google Ads traffic so affiliates can easily understand what’s permitted before applying.
