What are Gifts?

Gifts are free or discounted products that you can send to affiliates as a welcome package when they join the program or as a bonus when they perform well.

Why you should use Gifts for affiliates?

Research shows that 80% of affiliates said that they prefer to register for brands that provide sample products. Setting up gifts will help your brand stand out and attract more qualified affiliates.

The brand ambassadors will have real experience with your products and they will share their real thoughts on social media posts, therefore, their followers will have more confidence in following the affiliate's advice.

Customers tend to purchase products that have good reviews from influencers, especially when the brand ambassadors prove that they have used the products before promoting them to their followers.

Set up Gifts

To set up a Gift package, please go to Motivation > Set up Gifts > Create new gift.

1. Gift information

Firstly, please input the Gift name for this gift package to label it. If you consider sending gifts automatically to affiliates when they join your program, please check the box and choose the program(s) that you would like to deliver gifts to affiliates who register for these programs.

Then, kindly choose the Gift type, which could be Free gift or Discounted product(s) as gift.

  • The Free gift allows affiliates to receive free products.

  • The Discounted product(s) as gift sends discounts (the amount will be set from your end) for the selected products.

For both Gift type options, you can choose to charge affiliates shipping fees, which means that even if they get the gifts free, they will still have to pay for shipping to get the products delivered to them. The applied shipping rate will depend on your Shopify store's settings.

2. Gift products

Please select products for the gift by searching for the product name in the search bar and adding it to the package. In this section, you can select specific product variants and allow affiliates to choose their preferred one when receiving the gift.

Out-of-stock products will be marked, but can still be added to the gift package. However, please restock them before sending gifts to your affiliates.

After that, you can enter the item quantity for each product in the gift. As shown in the example below, the affiliate can receive two Summer Cotton Shirt items and choose their preferred variant for each one. For the Linen Airism Homewear, the affiliate can only receive one item, limited to the Women variant.

3. Gift limit

Finally, set the number of items that affiliates can choose when claiming this gift. For example, if you select 4 items for the gift but affiliates can only choose up to 2 of 4 items given, kindly insert 2 in this field.

Manage Gifts

The created gift will be shown on the Gift list like this:

On the Gift list page, you can view all the available gifts of your affiliate program with the necessary information, edit them, or send gifts manually (the plane icon) to specific affiliates (both auto-gifts and manual gifts can be sent manually).

If you choose to send a gift manually, a Send gift popup will be shown on the screen. You can choose to send the selected gift to specific programs or to certain affiliates. Kindly then click Send gift to send it manually to these affiliates.

In case you want to send/delete multiple gifts at a time, kindly check the boxes of these gifts and click on this bulk option.

For both auto-gifts and manual gifts, after sending them successfully, you'll be able to review the status of these sent gifts in the History tab as well as check for their brief report to know if affiliates have claimed them or not.

When gifts are sent successfully to affiliates, they will automatically receive an email telling them that there's a gift for them to claim. You can always edit the template of that email to suit your business's strategy in the Edit email template.

Gifts on the affiliate account

When gifts are sent successfully to affiliates, they will be notified about it right on their Dashboard. Clicking on the Claim button will then redirect them to the Gifts tab so they can redeem the gift.

The sent gift will be shown on the Available gift list for affiliates to review and claim. Affiliates can also check for the products they are about to receive by clicking directly on the product's name. Then, click the Select product button to claim the gift.

A Claim gift page will appear on the screen. In this example, affiliates can choose up to 3 of 4 items.

Once the items are selected successfully, the system will automatically calculate the costs that the affiliate needs to pay to claim the gift. You can view the details in the Order summary section.

Note:

  • The Estimated fee may not include product tax, shipping fee, and shipping tax. Only when affiliates click Continue to checkout to complete the order, it will show the actual total fee.

  • Shipping fees and taxes may be applied at checkout, if any, based on the merchant's Shopify store settings.

  • The Free gift doesn't have product tax at all, as its products are discounted 100%.

In case the affiliate has selected items for the gift but hasn’t completed the gift order, they can access the Gift page and click the Claim button to continue to checkout.
