There are two ways to assign a coupon to an affiliate: automatically and manually.
To automatically generate coupons for your affiliates, please read this document.
To manually assign coupons, open the app and go to Motivation > Coupons > Manage coupons > Add coupon. There are 2 options: Add a new coupon or Use an existing coupon.
UpPromote helps you create a discount code within the app and assign that code to an affiliate.
Follow the steps below to create and assign a coupon to an affiliate within UpPromote:
Select an affiliate that you want to assign a new coupon to.
Enter the coupon name in the Coupon code section. Make sure that it is different from any existing codes in your Shopify discounts.
Choose a discount type for the coupon.
There are 3 types:
Order discount: give customers a discount on an entire order.
Product discount: give customers a discount that is applied to specific products/collection
Free shipping: offer free shipping to customers in all or specific countries.
Set discount value for the coupon.
If you choose the Order discount type, set a fixed value or a percentage off an order.
If you choose the Product discount type, set a fixed value or a percentage off the products or collections. You then need to choose specific products or collections that are eligible for the discount.
If you choose the Free shipping type, you can leave All countries selected or choose specific countries that you want the coupon to apply to. There’s no need to set a discount value for this discount type.
(Optional) If you want to set a minimum purchase requirement for the coupon, you can select an option in the Minimum purchase requirements (Minimum purchase amount or Minimum quantity of items):
Select Minimum purchase amount to require customers to spend a minimum purchase amount to use the discount.
Select Minimum quantity of items to require customers to purchase a minimum number of products to use the discount.
If you don’t need any purchase requirements, leave it as No minimum requirements.
(Optional) To limit coupon usage, check Limit to one use per customer to limit the coupon to one use per customer by tracking a customer's email address or phone number.
After you have finished setting up, you can check on the rules again under the Summary table. And you can also leave some Note for affiliate with a description/instruction for the coupon.
When you're finished, click Save to save the newly created coupon. Our system will also sync it to your Shopify admin. If you want to edit its settings in the future, you can do that in the Discounts section of your Shopify admin.
If you want to set up complicated rules for a coupon code, you should choose this option.
Firstly, please make sure you have created a discount code via your Shopify admin by going to Discounts > Create discount.
The affiliate's name and the coupon code are required. Make sure you enter the exact discount code created via the Discounts section on your Shopify admin page.
Click Save to finish assigning the coupon.
After a coupon code is assigned to an affiliate, an email will automatically be sent to the affiliate informing them about the new coupon code. The merchant can edit this email by going to Outreach > Emails > Manage emails > New coupon.
Besides, the coupon will also be shown on the affiliate's dashboard as below:
When a customer purchases from your shop using a coupon code, that order will be counted as a referral order. The customer will get the discount while the affiliate will get the commission from that order.
The commission for referral orders using the coupon code will be calculated based on the order value after applying the coupon.
