Impact on changing Shopify store currency

To address potential challenges related to currency differences, we implement a comprehensive solution to ensure affiliates receive accurate payouts and to maintain the integrity of your data and payment records.

If you change your store currency in Shopify, several features across the app will be temporarily impacted. These include Payouts, Analytics, Referrals, Gifts, Bonuses, and Auto-tier. The affected features will remain restricted until you confirm the conversion of old referrals and data from the previous currency to the new currency. This process ensures seamless functionality and consistent data handling across the platform.

Key conditions:

  • These impacts only apply if there is at least one referral recorded in the old currency.

  • If no referrals exist in the old currency, all app features will continue to function as usual.

Please note that Referrals will still be tracked as usual despite restricted functions.

Notifications

To keep you informed during this process:

  1. After changing store currency:

    • You will receive an email notifying you of the currency change, detailing the impacted features and including a form to confirm the conversion of old data.

  2. After data conversion:

    • You will receive a confirmation email stating that old data has been converted to the new currency, and the impacted features have been unblocked, allowing you to resume normal functionality.

Impact on Features

1. Payouts page (Manual Payouts and PayPal Payouts)

  • Status: Disabled until currency conversion is confirmed and completed.

  • Impact:

    • You cannot view data or process payments on the Payouts page.

    • Sales and commissions are recalculated in the new currency after conversion.

    • Once recalculated, the Payouts page will return to active status, allowing normal payment processing.


2. Auto-payout with PayPal

  • Status: Paused and settings deactivated.

  • Impact:

    • No automatic payments will be processed or sent to affiliates on the scheduled date.

    • No notification emails (e.g., the 12-hour notice before the next payment date) will be sent.

    • You will not be able to enable the Auto-payout with PayPal feature during this period as the Schedule auto-payment settings will remain deactivated.

    • After confirming the conversion, the settings will be re-enabled. You will need to set up Auto-payout with PayPal again from scratch.


3. Analytics

  • Status: Data reset upon currency change.

  • Impact:

    • Analytics and Overview data: Reset to 0, including non-monetary data (e.g., total clicks, affiliates).

    • Product analytics: Old data cannot be converted due to technical limitations.

    • MLM network data: Monetary values reset to 0; non-monetary data remains unaffected.


4. Referral list

  • Before currency change: Referrals displayed in the old currency.

  • After currency change:

    • Referrals for orders placed in the old currency (including refunds): Displayed in the old currency.

    • Referrals for orders placed in the new currency: Displayed in the new currency.

  • After conversion confirmation: All old referrals will be converted to the new currency, and the referral list will display values in a single currency.


5. Gifts

  • Condition: Impacted only if at least one gift exists in the old currency.

  • Impact:

    • Existing gifts:

      • The currency symbol will be updated to the new currency symbol.

      • Gift values and product prices will not be converted automatically; you must manually update them if needed.

    • New gifts: Gifts created after the currency change will use the new currency.


6. Bonus

  • Condition: Impacted only if at least one bonus rule exists in the old currency.

  • Impact:

    • Old bonus rules are canceled permanently, and referrals are no longer calculated for these bonuses.

    • You may not create new bonus rules until currency conversion is completed.


7. Auto Tier

  • Status: Disabled until old referrals are converted.

  • Impact:

    • When re-enabled, referral tracking resumes based on the selected level condition.

    • If the level condition is changed, referrals are reset and counted from the beginning.


Steps for Currency conversion

  1. Contact support:

    • Use the Contact us button on banners or in-app live chat to contact our support for confirming currency conversion.

  2. Confirm conversion:

    • Our support team will guide you through the confirmation process. To confirm the currency conversion, you can also fill out the form in the email sent when you change the store currency.

  3. System update:

    • The system will convert old referrals to the new currency and recalculate all related data. That means all sales and commissions data will be updated to reflect the new currency.

  4. Feature reactivation:

    • Once the conversion is complete, all restricted features will resume normal functionality.
